Privacy Policy

This policy explains how News Daily US ("we", "us") handles information about you when you visit newsdailyus.com (the "Site"). We have tried to write it in plain language rather than in the usual fog.

1. What we collect

We collect very little directly, and more indirectly through the services described below.

Information you give us

• Contact messages. If you use our contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address and whatever you write. We use it to reply and to keep a record of corrections.
• Account details. If and when accounts are enabled, we will process the email address and password you choose. Passwords are never stored in readable form.

Information collected automatically

• Log data. Like nearly every website, our hosting provider records requests: IP address, browser type and version, referring page, pages viewed, and the date and time. This is used for security, abuse prevention and diagnosing faults.
• Device and usage signals gathered by the cookies and third-party services described below.

2. Cookies

A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser. We use them in two ways:

• Strictly necessary storage. We remember your light/dark theme choice in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your device and we cannot read it.
• Third-party cookies set by advertising and analytics partners, described next.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking third-party cookies will not stop you reading the Site.

3. Advertising and Google AdSense

We may display advertising served by Google and other third-party vendors. In connection with that:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site and other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and/or other sites on the Internet.

• Where required, we ask for your consent before non-essential advertising cookies are set, and you may withdraw it at any time.

Google's own handling of data is described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the privacy practices of third-party advertisers.

4. Analytics

We may use analytics services to understand which stories are read and where readers arrive from, in aggregate. These services may set cookies or use similar identifiers. We do not use analytics to identify individual readers by name.

5. Why we are allowed to process it

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: consent (for non-essential cookies and advertising); legitimate interests (keeping the Site secure, understanding readership in aggregate, replying to you); and contract (providing an account you asked for). Where the CCPA/CPRA applies, we do not sell personal information for money; certain advertising cookie activity may nonetheless be treated as "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising, and you may opt out using the links above.

6. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with: our hosting and infrastructure provider; advertising and analytics partners as described above; and anyone we are legally required to disclose it to. Service providers act on our instructions and are bound to protect it.

7. Your rights and choices

• Ask what we hold about you, and get a copy.
• Ask us to correct or delete it.
• Object to or restrict processing, and withdraw consent at any time.
• Ask us to port it elsewhere, where that right applies.
• Complain to your data protection authority.

Write to talk@newsdailyus.com and we will respond within the period the law requires. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

8. Children

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.

9. How long we keep things

Contact messages are kept for as long as needed to deal with the matter and to maintain a record of corrections. Server logs are kept for a short period for security and diagnostics. Cookie lifetimes are set by the parties that place them.
