That you will never have to wonder why we published something.
News Daily US began with a small, stubborn frustration: it had become hard to tell the difference between a story someone reported and a story someone was paid to place.
Not because the facts were always wrong. Because the reason was hidden. A headline written to be clicked reads exactly like a headline written to be read. By the time you notice which one you got, you have already given it your attention — the one thing none of us gets back.
So we started over with a simpler idea. Publish fewer things. Say plainly where each one came from. And when we get something wrong, say that too, in the same place we said the original, at the same size.
What we hold ourselves to
- Sourcing you can follow. If a claim rests on a document, a dataset, or a person, we say so in the piece — not in a footnote nobody reads.
- Corrections in daylight. Errors get fixed on the page where they appeared, dated and described. We do not quietly edit and move on.
- A clear line between reporting and opinion. Analysis is labelled. Sponsored content, if we ever run it, will be labelled more loudly still.
- Independence from what we cover. No story is shaped by an advertiser, and no advertiser gets to know what is coming.
- Your attention treated as a cost. Every story asks for minutes of your life. We try to be worth it, and to be brief when brevity serves you better.
Why trust has to be earned slowly
Trust is not a badge you put in a footer. It is the accumulated result of a lot of small, boring decisions made correctly when nobody was watching — the correction filed on a quiet Friday, the story held back one more day because a second source had not called back, the headline made duller because the sharper version was not quite true.
We would rather build that slowly and keep it than claim it on day one.
